“Exploring Further Evidence” explores issues from the emphasized opinion that discusses some of the new contexts for migration globally, ideas travel, objects pass from one culture to another etc. The artists including in the show are created and capture in their own modern way the world is moving.

The artworks suggest the sense of documentation, expressing a sort of presences in events, fiction or non-fiction the archive, create a conglomerate of clues that never completely stop sending information. The artists in the show create a relationship between past and present, a form that stipulates its own shifting terms, constantly renewing and differentiating meaning from one moment to another. Some of the artists are acutely aware that they trying to capture an elegance that is quickly turning into a documentation.

-Here is a series of tree new pieces, VITAL, VITAL I, and VITAL II. When I am doing these types of pieces a lot of it has to do with creating my own interpretation of what I think and less of what I see of the subject. Working with flowers allows me to go a little bit more abstract, to experiment more with the pigment and the media/wax.

-He aquí una serie de tres nuevas piezas, VITAL, VITAL I y VITAL II. Cuando estoy haciendo este tipo de piezas, el proceso tiene que ver mucho mas con la creación de mi propia interpretación, de lo que pienso, y menos de lo que veo del sujeto. Trabajar con flores me permite ir un poco más abstracto, experimentar más con el pigmento y la técnica/cera.

ANIMALS - ANIMALES

-A lot of people, including myself, are concerned about the oil spill that is happening on the gulf coast of Mexico. It is really heartbreaking to watch many images of different animals covered with oil and how dishwashing detergents are used to clean them. The nature's delicate balance is extremely fragile and this is a serious problem, an environmental disaster. I would like to dedicate these drawings to show people how beautiful animals are and how essential they are to our planet’s balance.

Every quarter I take my students to the Zoo Atlanta to draw the animals. Most of these studies were done during the last few trips to this zoo. Although I had my students drawing the animals in a more gestural way, my exercise was different. I have been trying to sketch more painterly and loose by using different types of materials. Here are the results of my experimentation.

-Mucha gente, incluyendo mi persona, están preocupadas por el derrame de petróleo que está sucediendo en la costa del golfo de México. Es realmente desgarrador ver las imágenes de muchos animales cubiertos de petróleo y de cómo se utilizan detergentes lavavajillas para limpiarlos. El delicado equilibrio de la naturaleza es muy frágil y lo que esta pasando es un problema grave, un desastre ambiental. Dedico estos dibujos a la gente, para mostrar lo hermoso que son los animales y lo esencial que estos son para el equilibrio de nuestro planeta.  

Cada trimestre llevo a mis alumnos al Zoológico de Atlanta a dibujar a los animales. La mayoría de estos estudios fueron creados durante mis ultimas visitas a este zoológico. Si bien puse a mis alumnos a dibujar a los animales de una manera más gestual, mi ejercicio fue diferente. He estado tratando de bocetear de una manera más pictórica y más libre mediante el uso de diferentes tipos de materiales. Estos son los resultados de mi experimentación.

-These are two new pieces that I just finish for a group show in North Carolina this coming Friday, Abril 2, 2010. OVA is a piece that I painted with pastel a few years ago. I rediscovered it and I decided to make some changes by applying more wax on it. I just felt the painting needed to say more in terms of the attitude of the female figure against the color and texture of the background.
SOMBRA is one of 3 pieces that I have painted based on a sculpture from Rodin called The Shade. As a figurative painting I am extremely interested in the way Rodin created his sculptures and the movement, power, and the presence he was able to convey in all of them. I am hoping I got some of that on this particular piece.

-Estas son dos nuevas piezas que acabo de terminar para una exposición colectiva en Carolina del Norte el próximo viernes, 2 de abril 2010. OVA es una pieza pintada al pastel que hice hace unos años atrás. La redescubrí hace poco y decidí hacerle algunos cambios aplicándole más cera. Sentía que la pintura necesitaba decir más en cuanto a la actitud de la figura femenina en contraste con el color y la textura del fondo.
SOMBRA es una de 3 piezas que he pintado basada en una escultura de Rodin llamada La Sombra. Como pintor figurativo estoy muy interesado en la forma en que Rodin creó sus esculturas y el movimiento, el poder y la presencia que fue capaz de expresar con estas. Espero, que en esta pintura en particular, alguna de estas cualidades esté presente.

-For the last few months I have been trying to draw as much as I can everyday. These images were drawn in a place called Apache Cafe here in Atlanta. What I like of drawing in places like this is getting a different energy while I am working. This energy, the energy of the moment, of the people, of the challenge affects and transforms strongly the look of my drawings.

-Cada día, en los últimos meses, he tratado de dibujar lo mas que he podido. Estas imagines fueron dibujadas en un lugar que queda aquí en Atlanta llamado Apache Cafe. Lo que me gusta de dibujar en lugares como este es sentir una energía diferente mientras trabajo. Esta energía, la energía del momento, del reto y de la gente, transforma y afecta enormemente la apariencia de mis dibujos.

-Here is one of my new paintings Prima Yanira. It was painted by using oil, watercolor, and encaustic on clayboard panel. Since I wanted to give this piece more movement, I attached to it two fragmented pieces of a frame. This piece will be shipped to Colombia soon!!

-Esta es una de mi ultimas pinturas Prima Yanira. Esta imagen fue hecha utilizando óleo, acuarela y encáustica sobre un panel de madera preparado con arcilla. Para darle mas movimiento a la obra decidí agregarle dos piezas de madera sacadas de un mismo marco. Pronto, esta pieza será mandada a Colombia!!
